Kitchen

What hood is better for the kitchen - an overview of the various types and popular models

The choice of hoods for the kitchen is a fairly simple task, especially if you familiarize yourself with the main characteristics of this appliance in advance (which, I must say, are not so many).

But first, let's say a few words about why the hood is needed at all and what functions it performs. The main objective of the hood is forced ventilation and air purification, which inevitably becomes contaminated in the kitchen. This fat spray, and sediment from burnt impurities present in household gas, and regular tobacco smoke. The easiest way to clean such air is to simply remove it from the room. A more complicated way is to filter out the air and return it back cleaned.

Thus, we have identified the first parameter by which to choose the hood: will it take away polluted air or return it back to the kitchen?

Hood: recirculating or direct-flow?

In most cases, where you can install a once-through exhaust hood, it is better to choose it: removing contaminated air will clean the room from odors better than filtering. Direct-flow hood can be installed anywhere. The only condition is the availability of a ventilation system in the nearest access, to which it can be connected. Pulling the duct over long distances is not recommended: it will not only not look very aesthetically pleasing, but also lead to a decrease in the hood working efficiency (it is believed that each turn of 90 degrees reduces the hood efficiency by 5%).

The direct-flow hood has a coarse metal grease filter, which is designed to prevent fat from settling on the inside of the device - the elements of the motor and the body. After all, this can not only lead to a failure of the motor, but will also become a source of unpleasant odor over time. Such a filter is usually removable. It can be washed, it works throughout the life of the hood. However, experience shows that it is often not so easy to wash it, and sooner or later the user is faced with the need to replace the filter.

The recirculation hood usually has two filters: one of them, again, serves to remove oil particles (as a rule, it is made in the form of a plastic cartridge, which must be replaced after a certain level of contamination). The second filter is carbon, it serves to eliminate unpleasant odors. The carbon filter is also disposable, and therefore must be replaced regularly. It is easy to guess that the cost of such "consumables" can amount to a significant amount (change the carbon filter, for example, recommend every 4-6 months). Especially if the house is a lot and often cooked.

Many hoods provide signaling to replace a charcoal filter or to care for a metal grease filter. This can be, for example, a light indication on the control panel. A simpler option is special characters on the filter, which disappear as it becomes dirty.

Therefore, a recirculation hood is recommended for installation where direct-flow installation is not possible: in the absence of access to the ventilation shaft or where the air duct is not suitable for aesthetic reasons (for example, above the kitchen “island”). We also note that the operation of recirculation hoods does not lead to lower temperatures in the room (this may be important, for example, in country houses).

Direct-flow hoods often allow operation in recirculation mode: in this case, they will have to buy an additional filter, which is usually not included.

But it’s better not to look at budget direct-flow hoods that do not have any filter elements: of course, they will cope with the discharge of contaminated air, but soon they themselves will become so dirty that it will be quite difficult to wash them.

Hood power

The amount of air that it is able to remove (or purify) per unit time depends on the power of the hood. The calculation will be simple: according to sanitary standards, the hood should draw at least 10-12 m³ / h. We calculate the volume of the kitchen room, multiply by 12, add a “margin” of 20 percent and another 5% -10% if the kitchen uses gas, not electricity, and we get the desired one. If you want to save, you can subtract the amount of furniture and a refrigerator.

For example, a kitchen with an area of 10 square meters and a ceiling height of 3.2 meters will require a hood with a capacity of about 500 m³ / h.

Most hoods have several operating modes, which allows you to adjust the speed of the motor, and with it the volume of air passing through the device (and at the same time the noise level).

Noise level

The noise level that the hood produces can cause some inconvenience. Therefore, it is better to be able to “listen” to the hood in the store (however, it’s also easy to make a mistake, because the level of background noise in the trading floor will be much higher, and the dimensions of the store premises will differ greatly from the dimensions of the home kitchen).

A normally working dome hood creates a noise level of 50 decibels. It can be compared with a quiet conversation at a distance of 3 meters. If your chosen hood is noisy louder - you should seriously think about the appropriateness of such a purchase.

Dimensions hoods and installation methods

According to the method of fastening, hoods are divided into several types:

  • Hanging: such hoods are attached to the lower plane of the wall cabinet or kitchen shelf. They usually have a flat and rectangular shape and small dimensions. They are easy to mount, however, due to their small size, filters in such hoods will have to be changed more often.
  • Built-in: such hoods are mounted inside the kitchen hanging furniture, so that they can be completely hidden from human eyes. Built-in hoods can most often be found in small kitchens - where you have to save space.
  • The fireplace or dome hood is well known to everyone: it can be seen most often in city apartments, especially where they cook a lot and often.
  • The wall hood is attached to the wall directly above the stove.
  • The island hood, in contrast, is designed for installation on the ceiling, above the stove located in the kitchen island area, located in the center of the room.
  • We also note rarer corner hoods (designed for installation in a corner of the room) and telescopic hoods with a retractable air intake element (such hoods are installed in a wall cabinet, but they are extremely low power).
  • The latest fashion trend is retractable hoods built into the countertop. Such devices will cost significantly more than traditional hoods, but they will completely hide the device under the countertop (thereby freeing up space above the stove). More modern than this - perhaps the hoods are built directly into the hob.

The dimensions of the hood should be selected, guided by the dimensions of the hob and common sense: in the general case, it is believed that the hood in width should be no less than the hob (more - you can). Ideally, the length and width of the hood should match the corresponding dimensions of the stove or hob. This will not only ensure optimal operation of the device, but will also look the most aesthetically pleasing. Today, manufacturers produce hoods with a width of 45 to 90 cm. The most popular are models with a housing width of 50, 60 and 90 cm.

Design and body material

The choice of the appearance of the hood is due to two factors: the attractiveness of the design and ease of maintenance (daily cleaning). There are many models on the market, so there is no doubt that every cook will be able to choose exactly the cooker hood that will look great in his kitchen. But cleaning can be difficult. Therefore, it is better not to choose hoods, the body of which is made of cheap heat-resistant plastic, and opt for enameled, or better, metal housings that turn out to be more durable and easier to clean. The tempered glass alternative is outwardly attractive, but it is an expensive solution that is not very convenient in everyday care.

Control

The hood control can be mechanical or electronic (for example, touch). In the first case, the switching of operating modes and the lighting system is carried out using mechanical buttons, in the second - using an electronic system, often equipped with a display with an indication of the selected operating mode.

The main advantages of the electronic control system (in addition to aesthetic ones) are the ability to set an on / off timer for the hood. More advanced models can automatically change their mode depending on the degree of air pollution, and some even allow remote control via a special remote control or smartphone. The need for the presence or absence of such functions is at the discretion of the buyer.

Among the additional (optional) modes, one can note the intensive mode, in which the hood runs for a while at maximum power, after which it switches to one of the standard modes, and the interval operation mode, which implies periodic activation of the hood for a predetermined time.

The lighting provided in most hoods will help illuminate the hob, and can also become an independent element of the interior. Most hoods use standard lamps with an E14 cap, however, in accordance with the latest EU directives regarding energy saving, in the near future, all hoods will switch to more economical LED lamps. If desired, you can choose a hood that allows you to adjust the intensity of the lighting or even allowing directional lighting of a particular kitchen area.

It is also worth mentioning the hoods, ready to work together with hobs. Naturally, the compatibility here remains at the level of the manufacturer: it must be the same. Such cooker hoods, in fact, are controlled by the hob itself: it decides which mode will be optimal at the moment, based on the use of its resources.

Mounting Features

Concluding the conversation about hoods, it will not be superfluous to recall not only the need for proper installation of this simple device, but also the organization of the right ventilation system in the living room. Indeed, there are many more dirty tricks than can be imagined at first glance. The most obvious one is probably familiar to many: after installing double-glazed windows in the apartment, the air flow is disrupted, the air in the room becomes too dry, there is little oxygen. A sufficient inflow must be remembered when installing the hood: after all, if enough air does not get into the apartment, then it will be more difficult to “pump” it out.

The second point is the installation height of the hood relative to the hob. Recommended values are less than 75 cm for a gas stove and 65 cm for an electric stove. If the hood above the stove will be located high, it is better to choose a model with a wider than the hob surface for air intake.

We have already mentioned the power losses associated with an overly long or winding duct, but many still forget about the need to provide natural ventilation. During the installation of the hood, the original ventilation hole is often blocked, as a result of which the air from the kitchen ceases to leave naturally. As a result, you have to turn on the hood much more often - just to “air” the room.

The easiest way to connect the hood to the ventilation system is a flexible silver corrugated pipe. She looks, however, not too aesthetically pleasing and, in addition, can make noise during work. The solution is a rigid duct made of metal or plastic pipes.

Before installation, it will be useful to check all sizes and mark the surface for installation: these instructions can be found in the instructions for drawing.

The easiest way to install the hood is to connect to the mains. Most dome models allow you to "hide" a wire under a decorative box (part of the duct will also hide under it). Such a solution will require a socket or at least a wire located in the upper part of the kitchen (under the ceiling). It is clear that it is better to think about it in advance - at the stage of designing a kitchen.

Conclusions

We list once again the steps to be taken when choosing a home hood:

  • First you need to determine the type of hood: whether it will remove contaminated air (direct-flow) or purify it and feed it back into the room (recirculation).
  • The power of the hood directly depends on the size of the room in which it will be installed. To choose the right power, it is enough to use a simple formula for the calculation.
  • Not only its appearance depends on the method of mounting the hood, but also whether it is suitable in principle for solving your problems: for the kitchen “island” one type of hood is used, for open space - the other, for integration into the kitchen - the third.
  • From how “advanced” the hood control system will depend on how “independent” the device will be. If you are ready to turn the hood on and off manually - mechanical control will do. If you want the hood to turn on and off according to a timer or according to a schedule, you cannot do without an electronic control system.
  • Not only the appearance of the hood depends on the material of the case, but also how convenient it will be to clean it from dirt. Different types of coatings will require different care and different cleaning products.

What hood is better to choose for the kitchen

If you can not think much about the design of the hood, since there are quite different models on the market with their own colors and sizes, then you need to pay special attention to the efficiency of its work - the quality of the functions it performs depends on it.

First of all, you need to determine the type of device - select recirculating or flow. At the same time, without a preliminary assessment of the room, it is unambiguous to say which cooker hoods it is better to use for it, it will not work - each performs its tasks and is good in its place.

Circulation hood

This device got its name because it simply makes the air circulate around the room, eliminating odors by passing it through a charcoal filter, which is located inside the hood itself.

In addition to the charcoal filter, grease traps are installed in such a hood.

The principle of its operation determines all the positive and negative sides of this design.

+ Pluses of circulation hoods

  1. Possibility of use in houses with a clogged ventilation system or simply designed for small traction and can not cope with the capabilities of modern range hoods.
  2. Such a device can be placed anywhere and you do not have to pull the corrugation from the ventilation shaft to it. It also opens up great opportunities for designers - such a hood can be hidden in a countertop or behind a false wall.
  3. Air recirculation does not require strong traction, which means devices can be more compact and more economical in terms of energy consumption.
  4. With lower loads on the engine, which is the main component of the hood, the overall service life of the device increases.
  5. The location of the cooking plate is not tied to the ventilation shaft.

- Cons of circulation hoods

  1. The need to purchase consumables - depending on the intensity of use of the hood, carbon filters should be changed approximately every six months to a year.
  2. You have to regularly wash the grease filter - it is a fine metal mesh that is installed in the lower part of the hood and cleaned in running water or a dishwasher.
  3. It makes no sense to put a circulation hood over a gas stove. In the process of gas combustion, oxygen from the air is converted into carbon monoxide (CO²), which the hood will simply drive through the kitchen. Recycling in this case becomes not only ineffective, but also hazardous to health.

Flow hood

The main difference between such a device is that for effective operation, it definitely needs access to the ventilation shaft. The hood is mounted either directly near its opening, or is connected to it by a corrugated pipe, which is made as short as possible - the smaller it is, the quieter the operation of the hood. For this reason, devices of this type are somewhat limited in the place of installation - on the wall above the stove or ceiling.

The principle of operation of the device is quite simple. The fan blows air and draws it out of the room, forming a kind of draft that forms when the window is open, only the air does not spin in the kitchen, but is blown by the fan into the ventilation shaft or directly into the street, if a separate ventilation hole is made in the kitchen wall for exhausting.

Since dirty air is discharged into the street, there is no need to use carbon filters, but to prevent the particles of grease and soot from becoming contaminated with the inside of the hood, the grease filter is still placed on it. It must be washed periodically - it depends on the purity of this part how much the hood will work efficiently and quietly.

Due to the need for ventilation installation, it is better to install flow hoods during repair work in the kitchen and when planning it, calculate its location separately. Particular attention should be paid to the duct - ideally, it should be a straight line without bends or turns. If they are present, the air will buzz strongly inside the pipe and the use of the hood will be at least not comfortable. In general, according to the principle of operation, it is clear which hood for a gas stove is better - in this case, only a flow hood should be installed. Almost all models of flow hoods can be run in recirculation mode - for this, a carbon filter is installed on the outlet and the device is ready for operation.

+ Benefits of flow hood

  1. The ability to make powerful, high-performance devices.
  2. There are no consumables that need systematic replacement - the used grease filters are almost eternal.
  3. Hoods can be hidden in the kitchen furniture.
  4. Noise is lower than that of circulating analogues.

- Cons of flow hoods

  1. Since the hood essentially pumps air out of the kitchen, another must flow in its place, for which it is necessary to leave the window open or to think through the ventilation also to the air flow.
  2. A consequence of the previous drawback - in winter, the hood removes warm air from the room, replacing it with cold air, and vice versa in summer.
  3. If the stove is located (or will be installed) far from the ventilation hole, large-scale installation work is inevitable.

What to choose the design of the hood according to the type of installation

Here, the design question comes to the forefront, because the fundamentally internal arrangement of all hoods is the same - the main differences are in engine power, build quality and the applied lighting of the working area.

Outboard. Mostly, these are low-cost device options - they differ in small engine power, but at the same time the most economical in terms of energy consumption. The simplicity of the design determines the cost of such hoods and the simplicity of their installation. Most often this is a case measuring 60x50x15, the lower part of which consists of grease filters, and the engine is located inside. The duct is located on the top or back cover.

Despite the budget version, in this category there are a sufficient number of reliable devices that can cope with air purification no worse than TOP models and at the same time they will have a fairly low noise level.

Dome. Their second name is mantelpieces. They got this name for their resemblance to the ventilation system of natural fireplaces, which immediately attracts attention when entering the kitchen. Often, such models are equipped with a powerful engine and boast high performance. Since they are constantly in sight, manufacturers offer customers a large number of design options for such devices.

Structurally, dome hoods are divided into three types:

1. Wall. They are mounted on one of the walls, for which the back side is made flat.

2. Corner. They have the appropriate form for installation in the corner of the kitchen.

3. Island. They are attached to the ceiling - most often a ventilation pipe is passed through it. It is especially simple to do this if plasterboard ceilings are mounted. Such a hood is used in large kitchens in which the stove is in the middle of the room.

Wall and corner devices can have an inclined working surface - this improves their appearance, and also reduces the likelihood of hitting the edge of a conventional hood with a head.

Recessed. After installation, such hoods become almost invisible - only the control panel with touch or mechanical buttons remains in sight. Usually this is a narrow strip a few centimeters high - black, white or silver.

Such hoods can be embedded in kitchen cabinets or countertops - in the first case they extend in the horizontal plane, and in the second (such models are also called “dominoes”) - in the vertical one.

MAUNFELD TSH 90 has two operating modes: air exhaust and recirculation. This means that the device does not require a mandatory connection to a common ventilation network; for cleaning, you only need to install a special charcoal filter. Installation is quite simple: the device is fixed to the wall. All the necessary parts are supplied complete with instructions in Russian.

We recommend a powerful and quiet model to owners of large kitchens.

How to choose a hood

According to the method of location in the room, the devices are:

  • Hanging . Small-sized devices are attached to the lower plane of the wall cabinet or above the electric stove in the rack.
  • Wall . Placed directly above the hob against the wall.
  • Recessed . Mounted inside kitchen hanging cabinets, due to which they are completely hidden from prying eyes.
  • Island . Located in the center of the spacious kitchen. Installation here is the most difficult, and the devices themselves are expensive.
  • Angled . Attached to the wall in the corner of the room.

Hoods are divided into flowing and recirculating. The former remove polluted air from the room to the street, while the latter, after filtering, it returns. Flowing is better for gas stoves: in the process of operation of such equipment soot, gas combustion products are formed, so it is better to remove air outside.

Recycling options are better for an electric stove - they remove odor well. There are universal combined options that can be combined with any cooking technique.

Also consider which hood is better: tilted or domed. The first instead of a large dome have a flat working panel, placed at an optimal angle to the hob. They are easier to install, fit even in small kitchens. But, as practice shows, direct domed options do better with the ventilation of the room.

When choosing a technique, one must take into account the brand: well-known companies do not risk reputation and do not offer low-quality products. The best manufacturers of kitchen hoods include: Bosch, Kuppersberg, Weissgauff, Siemens, MAUNFELD, Electrolux, Korting.

What else needs to be considered before choosing a hood:

  • Performance . The higher this value, the greater the amount of burning and odors the device can remove. So, for a room of 10 squares with three-meter ceilings, a device with a capacity of approximately 500 m3 / h is required.
  • The size . When selecting an exhaust device, it is necessary to take into account the dimensions of the stove, hob. A small cooker hood will not be able to clean the air efficiently. To cope with the tasks, it must be longer and wider than the cooking technique.
  • Weight . The complexity of the installation depends on how much the device weighs. Not all walls can withstand heavy units without additional reinforcement.

Control of the device is mechanical, electronic or touch - the most modern units. In the first version, the operating modes and lighting are switched by means of mechanical buttons, in the second type - by means of an electronic system, often equipped with a display on which basic information is displayed.

Devices are illuminated using incandescent lamps, halogen or LED devices. Which is better, the owner chooses, but the latter are the most economical. If you wish, you can find the unit with adjustable backlight intensity or with directional lighting of a certain area.

What to look for when choosing

To choose a suitable air purifier for the kitchen, first of all, you need to determine the size that is suitable for installation in a particular set. And also pay attention to the main characteristics and equipment:

  • Filter. Today, almost all hoods are equipped with a grease filter. Its purpose is to protect the engine, fan and other working elements from the accumulation of fat. As a rule, it has the form of a lattice. It must be removed and washed periodically. A carbon filter is also installed, it serves to get rid of unpleasant odors.
  • Number of speeds. Models can have 2-4 modes. They differ in suction intensity and noise. If you plan to cook a lot, using several burners at the same time, it is better to choose a model with a large number of speeds.
  • Number of engines. Most hoods are equipped with a single motor, the power of which determines the suction force. There are also twin engine models. The second is turned on to provide high speed or turbo mode, or they work simultaneously.
  • Maximum performance. This is the most important parameter that determines whether the equipment will cope with the generated steam. The average productivity is 500-600 cubic meters / h, which is enough for a standard size kitchen. But there are options with characteristics of 900-1000 cubic meters / h, which will allow the device to remove hot air much faster.
  • Power consumption. Power depends on the type of engine. The higher it is, the greater the air cleaner can provide. Today, models are presented in a very wide range: 100-290 watts.
  • Noise level. Hoods are always distinguished by high noise. But sometimes it exceeds a comfortable state and simply drowns out the voice, TV and other sound sources. The optimal level for a person is considered to be up to 50 dB. But at maximum speed, it is much higher.
  • Body material. Almost all air purifiers are made of stainless steel. This is a durable and wear-resistant material that ensures the reliability of the structure and the duration of operation.
  • Type of control. Switching speeds can occur mechanically (by buttons or lever) and electronically. In the second case, the buttons can be represented by sensors. Due to the sticking of fat on them, they can work worse, so talking about their best quality is inappropriate. And the cost is higher.
  • Intensive mode. The presence of a turbo mode will quickly cope with strong smoke or an abundance of hot air.
  • Timer. The ability to automatically turn off after a specified period of time eliminates the need for control.
  • Filter soiling indicator. This light will tell you when the filters need to be cleaned.
  • Type of lighting. On the hood, 1-2 lamps of various sizes can be installed. Each manufacturer uses different types of bulbs for them. They are distinguished by brightness and power. Mode of operation

Most hoods are connected to the ventilation system of the kitchen. IN tap mode they remove air along with odors and fumes outside the room. Many popular models also support circulation mode - when the air is cleaned with filters and returns back to the room. Filters need to be changed regularly (every 4-6 months). This mode is convenient in winter - to maintain heat in the room.
There are models of hoods designed to work only in the circulation mode. Such "hoods without ventilation“there are very interesting designs and unusual designs - there are models that are built into the table, wall hoods, hanging, etc. But the cost of hoods without ventilation is quite high - mostly from $ 1000 and more. So they did not become popular.

Which hood manufacturer is better?

Traditionally, the German and Swedish brands: Siemens, Bosch, Asko, and time-tested, hold the palm of the championship. If the Scandinavian manufacturer is represented strictly in the premium segment, then the German Bosch and Siemens, in addition to the flagship models Serie 8 and IQ 700, offer the consumer high-quality hoods in the middle price range. Positive customer reviews ensured the presence in the ranking of the best hoods to the popular brands of Hansa, Shindo, Kronasteel. Pleasantly pleased with the success of the Russian brand of kitchen hoods ELIKOR, which does not try to impersonate a mythical company from the European Union, but positions itself and develops precisely as a domestic manufacturer.

Siemens LI 67SA530 IX

Another good German cooker hood, which, according to basic technical data, is not much inferior to its more expensive (almost 2 times) compatriots Bosch DFS 067K50 and Siemens LI 67SA680 IX, and even surpasses them in performance. What is interesting in it:

Elica PANDORA IX / F / 90 INOX

The hood, built into the worktop behind the hob, is made of stainless steel. In the inoperative state, the hood of the exhaust device is recessed into the countertop and does not occupy a millimeter of space above it. To activate the hood, you need to click on the upper visible plate, and a thin elegant panel of the device “floats out”. But this is only the tip of the iceberg: filters, motor and turbine blades are mounted under the tabletop and are not visible from the outside. The model "knows how" to work in recirculation / exhaust modes. For the circulation mode, the installation of special replaceable filters is sufficient; for the exhaust mode, it is necessary to provide an air duct to the device. The power of the device is 275 watts. Country - Italy.

What are the cooker hoods?

Indeed hoods are different: black, white, perhaps even red. And also silver, beige, sometimes even painted. The choice of color scheme is a personal matter for everyone. The basic principle of action is by and large identical. But such characteristics as dimensions, the shape of the body, the supported method of placement allow you to classify household hoods in the following categories:

Peak Air Purifiers

The most inexpensive. Flat horizontal “boxes” with familiar attributes: fan, backlight, grease filter. The latter is either textile replaceable or washable from aluminum. The second option, of course, is more practical. It is found on sale separately, therefore, if you did not get it by default, you should not worry much.

Why air purifiers? Most models are capable of working in the exhaust mode, but power is not enough. A compact device is much easier to supplement with a carbon odor absorber, periodically changing it in accordance with the recommendations and with its own perception of efficiency, than building a bulky structure with a corrugation stretching across the entire kitchen.

Fireplace hoods

Dome. Actually, from the terminology it is clear how they look. The shape of the case is borrowed from classic exhaust hoods and implies the creation of traction after the fact of connecting to a normal ventilation. However, inside the cone there is also a powerful motor (usually noticeably stronger than in compact flat models) that provides forced “suction” of air, due to which the effect of using the hood is greatly enhanced.

Straight fireplace mantles. In a certain sense, it is a product of the evolution of dome versions with the difference that the emphasis is on increasing the surface of the working surface and increasing the power of the built-in fan. Such hoods are most often made of stainless steel, they look very solid, usually equipped with two or more aluminum filters, a beautiful and bright backlight. The best modifications are equipped immediately with a pair of efficient motors.

Inclined cooker hoods. Again a variation on the mantelpiece. Stand out at an oblique angle. They look very modern, aesthetically pleasing, but also extremely comfortable from the practical side. Even a tall person standing by the stove is not threatened with a “collision” with his head and the hood, access to the filter for maintenance is simplified, and it is easier to wash the work surface. You just need to understand that the fan must be of decent power to confidently draw in smoke, steam and hot greasy air, despite their “desire” to slip past.

Corner hoods. Such models are less common, but if the hob is installed non-standard, you do not have to choose. In principle, there are domed, and straight, and inclined.

Island hoods. There are the same direct models adapted for mounting both on the wall and on the ceiling above the cooking area leading to the center of the kitchen, as well as cylindrical, rectangular and even suspended versions on the slings in the form of an impromptu chandelier (format of an air purifier).

Built-in hoods

For installation in a wall cabinet. “Out of the box”, such an installation has functionality similar to that typical of classic flat air cleaners, but still with a significant positive difference: a more powerful motor is used, as a result, performance is incomparably better, installation is carried out inside the furniture (there is also the possibility of hidden duct installation ), the retractable screen means maximum compactness.

For embedding in countertops. A very advanced, but also very expensive version of the hood for those users who can afford the elite level equipment. The main "body" of such hoods is also hidden in the closet of the kitchen. Only already at the bottom. Depending on the design of a particular model, the work surface can rise vertically, perpendicular to the hob, or remain static horizontal, drawing air down due to the outstanding "power" performance of a regular fan.
